Sunil Gavaskar wants Rohit Sharma to play every game till the WC

Following the shocking 2-1 loss to Australia, legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar has issued a strong warning to Team India. Gavaskar issued a warning to the Indian squad regarding captain Rohit Sharma, stating that he must participate in every match for the national team up till the World Cup.

Last year, Rohit missed the majority of the ODI games because he was focused on T20s, and Shikhar Dhawan took charge of the team.

But Rohit has been in charge ever since the Bangladesh series because the World Cup is his top priority. India would hope to recapture some momentum and that Rohit the captain play all the games since the country has six ODIs and the Asia Cup scheduled before the main event.

The BCCI explained that Rohit had some family responsibilities when it named the squad for the ODI series, as the dashing opener skipped the series opener.

Sunil Gavaskar stated, During a conversation with Star Sports: “I think he needs to play every game. You can’t have a captain who is there for one match and not there for the rest. It is so important. It can happen to any other player but I think and I know it was a family commitment, so he had to be there. That’s understandable.”

“When it comes to the World Cup, you can’t have a family commitment; it’s as simple as that. Maybe before that, finish everything that you have unless it’s an emergency. Emergency is something completely different,” he added

According to the illustrious Indian cricketer, India needs leadership continuity because it has been lacking recently.

“You need continuity in leadership. There’s a feeling that you have got everybody with you, otherwise, there are two leaders. Then there are two leaders that the team is looking at,” Gavaskar added.

Later this year, India will host the ICC world cup, and all eyes will be on the hosts as they attempt to end their ICC trophy drought.
